Catherine Weir graduated with a BA (Hons) in Time Based Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2008 and now lives and works in Glasgow. She is not to be confused with Catherine M.Weir who is a completely different person altogether.
Catherine’s works on paper (primarily drawing in materials such as ink, watercolour and pencil) form the focus of a visual arts practice that has recently opened up to explore the world of hand drawn animation. In parallel with this, she has also initiated and participated on a number of collaborative projects such as DIY feminist punk band Fallope & The Tubes (2014 to date) and Now Now Projects (2009 to 2012). These collaborations focus around an idea of a ‘supportive inclusive feminist democracy in motion’ to create immersive experimental performances and questionable soundtracks. Catherine also works in art department on film and TV productions (including props, graphics and archive research for factual) and on community led art projects within the third sector.
